25 April 2019, London – The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has launched a new learning resource centre and fundamentals series to help finance professionals take advantage of the growing opportunities emerging technologies present to finance functions and their organisations.
This new resource centre provides free learning covering the “fundamentals” of digital disruption – automation, blockchain, cyber-security, data analytics and ethics. It comes in response to findings from the CGMA Future of Finance global research programme into the impact of digitisation and results from the Agile Finance Unleashed report with Oracle, which found only 10% of finance teams have the skills they need to support the digital ambitions of their organisations.
Designed to help develop a digital mindset, the topic blocks will come on stream from April through to October 2019. A quiz for finance professionals is also available to test their current level of knowledge and see how they compare to their peers.
The first set of resources cover automation and provide finance professionals with a better understanding of Robotic Process Automation (RPA). This area is streamlining finance and reporting processes, driving human interaction with technologies and repurposing the roles of management accountants to focus on value creating activities.
Building on the first theme of digital disruption, new resources will become available on:
- Blockchain (May)
- Cyber-security (June)
- Data analytics (July)
- Ethics and the challenges posed by new technologies (October)
The resource centre was developed through the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (the unified voice of the AICPA and CIMA), which further complements an expanded catalogue of CPD courses (including a Digital Mindset package) and access to thought leadership, briefing papers, podcasts, certificate programmes and toolkits available on these topics.
Andrew Harding, FCMA, CGMA, Chief Executive Management Accounting, the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants said:
“We live in a rapidly changing business and technological environment and we all need to keep up. The new centre provides free resources and a core understanding of the digital fundamentals finance professionals need to grasp. It will help them develop the digital mindset and skills they need to capitalise on the opportunities emerging technologies present to the finance function, their own roles and their employers”.
